10 Reasons Why We Don't Rest

1. We don't trust God.
2. We value burn-out and work-aholism (we want to be known for that).
3. We don't know how to rest.  We know how to recreate, but not rest.
4. We are addicted to noise and visual stimulation-Put down the ipod, stop texting, learn how to live with quiet.
5. We have bad patterns that are hard to break.
6. We don't believe that failure to rest is detrimental (despite clinical studies to the contrary).
7. We are afraid to say "no" to others, except we often say that to God.
8. We are afraid of being perceived lazy.
9. We overestimate our ability and underestimate God's power.
10. We don't rest because we're not tired.  We are not tired by the right things.
